“Please help me! Because if I die, your garden will smell of dead fish.”
Roysten, Banjo-Tooie

Roysten is Banjo's pet goldfish. He is usually a minor character, who serves little purpose aside from showing up in dangerous situations.

History

Banjo-Kazooie

In Banjo-Kazooie, Roysten can be seen in Banjo's house, swimming in his fishbwol. Near the end of the game, Roysten can be seen being grilled by Mumbo Jumbo on a barbecue.

Banjo-Tooie

In Banjo-Tooie, Roysten can be seen in Banjo's house, swimming in his fishbowl at the start of the game. When Gruntilda blows up the house, he ends up trapped under a rock, claiming that he fell there from Mumbo's barbecue at the end of Banjo-Kazooie. The rock can be destroyed using the Bill Drill ability. Once Roysten is freed, he will stay on the moat around Spiral Mountain and teach Banjo and Kazooie the ability swim faster and increase the duo's oxygen from 6 to 10 bubbles. When Mrs. Bottles forces Bottles to eat his burned food, Roysten can be seen burnt in the plate.

Banjo-Kazooie: Grunty's Revenge

In Banjo-Kazooie: Grunty's Revenge, due to the events of the game taking place between Banjo-Kazooie and Banjo-Tooie, Roysten can be seen still stuck on the barbecue from the first game.

Banjo-Pilot

In Banjo-Pilot, Roysten can be found inside his fishbowl in a shelf of the trophy room, where the player's achievement ribbons and trophies can be seen.

Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts

In Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts, Roysten appears in his fishbowl on the main menu and as a Stop 'n' Swop part, only used for cosmetical purposes. It is one of the required parts to make the L.O.G. Banjo vehicle, one of two vehicles (the other being Humba Boat 2) to use a Stop 'n' Swop part.

Other appearances

Roysten makes cameo appearances in two other Rare titles, Grabbed by the Ghoulies, where is found in the Ghoulhaven Hall as an easter egg, and in Viva Piñata, as a cosmetic item.

Trivia

  • In every Banjo-Kazooie game, Roysten's eyes are blue. The only exception is Banjo-Pilot, where his eyes are orange.
  • Roysten is the only character that's not named in the character parade of Banjo-Tooie.
