- “Yipeee! Be a star and you'll find your reward! Hurry!”
- —Twinkly, Banjo-Kazooie
The Twinklies are a recurring species in the Banjo-Kazooie series.
Characteristics[edit]
Twinklies are sentient Christmas lights.
Banjo-Kazooie[edit]
In Banjo-Kazooie, their first appearance, Twinklies are found within a blue present located in front of the giant Christmas tree of Freezeezy Peak. Once the box has been opened with the Beak Buster, the Twinklies request Banjo and Kazooie's help to protect them from the Twinkly Munchers as they try to reach and light up the tree.
When the Christmas tree is completely lit, the Twinklies tell the duo to "be a star" in order to find their reward, meaning they need to fly through the tree's star three times to make a Jiggy appear.
Banjo-Tooie[edit]
In Banjo-Tooie, Twinklies appear as collectable items in the Dodgem Challenges of Witchyworld and the Twinkly Packing Challenge of Grunty Industries. In these mini-games, each Twinkly color is worth a different amount of points, with the red Twinklies being worth 1 point, the green Twinklies being worth 2 points and the blue Twinklies being worth 3 points.
Name origin[edit]
Their name is derived from "twinkle," a word used to refer to a shine with a gleam that varies repeatedly between bright and faint.
