“Mmmm... I'm sticky tasty honey energy!”
Honeycomb, Banjo-Kazooie

Honeycombs are a recurring item in the Banjo-Kazooie series.

Location and uses[edit]

Honeycombs individually represent the units for Banjo and Kazooie's health bar in the platforming games of the Banjo-Kazooie series.

Banjo-Kazooie[edit]

In Banjo-Kazooie, if the Banjo and Kazooie are low on health, they can collect a Honeycomb to restore a unit of their energy. If their life bar is full, the Honeycomb has no effect. Honeycombs can usually be found by either defeating an enemy, destroying a Beehive, or in random areas. Stronger enemies usually release more honeycombs. Banjo and Kazooie lose a Honeycomb if they are hit by either an enemy or obstacle or if they fall from a height, sometimes even more, depending on the height of the fall. Extra Honeycomb Pieces can be collected to add another Honeycomb to the health bar.

Grunty's Revenge[edit]

In Banjo-Kazooie: Grunty's Revenge, Honeycombs function much like they did in the previous entries of the series, even retaining the variants introduced in them. Another honeycomb variant was also introduced in this game, the Double Honeycomb.

Banjo-Tooie[edit]

In Banjo-Tooie, Honeycombs function almost identically like they did in Banjo-Kazooie. They also represent Mumbo Jumbo's health. The game also introduces two variants, the Random Stop Honeycomb and the Skill Stop Honeycomb. Some enemies do not drop Honeycombs when defeated.

Banjo-Pilot[edit]

In Banjo-Pilot, Honeycombs are the means of obtaining an item (working very similarly to the Item Boxes from the Mario Kart series). The item received by the racer is usually based on the place they are in. A Honeycomb also appears as the symbol of the Honeycomb Cup.

Nuts & Bolts[edit]

In Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts Honeycombs are fetch items in the Lord of Games' "Six of the Best" challenge of Spiral Mountain.

Other appearances[edit]

Viva Piñata series[edit]

In Viva Piñata and Viva Piñata: Trouble in Paradise, a Honeycomb appears on the glass of the Honey jars. In the sequel exclusively, a Honeycomb can also be used in the garden's logo.
