Beehives are recurring enemies in the Banjo-Kazooie series.
Characteristics[edit]
As their name implies, they are sentient beehives that contain Honeycombs, being useful as free source of energy for Banjo and Kazooie. However, not all of Beehives are harmless, as in later worlds some have Bee Swarms that attack the duo if they break it.
Banjo-Kazooie[edit]
In their first appearance, Banjo-Kazooie, Beehives appear every world (with the only exception being Spiral Mountain), first being found in Mumbo's Mountain. While at first they are completely defenseless, starting from Gobi's Valley, they will be accompanied of Bee Swarms that attack Banjo and Kazooie if they try to break the Beehive and get Honeycombs. Aside from Quarries, Beehives are the only enemies that do not directly attack Banjo and Kazooie.
Banjo-Tooie[edit]
In Banjo-Tooie, while Bee Swarms are absent, later worlds feature Cursed Beehives that disguise themselves as normal Beehives to attack the duo when they get near them but can be differentiated by their red eyes. Additionally, the normal Beehive's dialogue icon from the previous game is used in the Tower of Tragedy Quiz.
Grunty's Revenge[edit]
Beehives return in Banjo-Kazooie: Grunty's Revenge, acting much like they did in Banjo-Kazooie.
Banjo-Pilot[edit]
In Banjo-Pilot, Beehives appear as obstacles in the Jolly Roger's Lagoon course. They also appear as the symbol of the Beehive Cup.
Nuts & Bolts[edit]
In Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts, a Beehive appears as part of an exhibit in Banjoland.
