Beehive is an enemy, found at various locations in Banjo-Kazooie 1. As it's name implies, it is a beehive with bees flying around it. The beehive itself does not make any movement (except for jumping up and down) and cannot hurt Banjo. But the bees that fly around it can. If Banjo gets too close to the hive or tries to attack it, the bees will come after him and injure him. Like the normal ones, the hive does contain honeycomb health. But to retrieve it safely, Banjo must lure the bees away and then quickly go in and attack the hive to get the health. To find out if the hive is safe or not, the player must either listen to hear a buzzinf sound or look for small 2D bees flying randomly around the hive.

Beehives are recurring enemies in the Banjo-Kazooie series.

“Go away! Leave my Honeycombs alone!”
Beehive, Banjo-Kazooie

CharacteristicsEdit

As their name implies, they are sentient beehives that contain Honeycombs, being useful as free source of energy for Banjo and Kazooie. However, not all of Beehives are harmless, as in later worlds some have Bee Swarms that attack the duo if they break it.

Banjo-KazooieEdit

In their first appearance, Banjo-Kazooie, Beehives appear every world (with the only exception being Spiral Mountain), first being found in Mumbo's Mountain. While at first they are completely defenseless, starting from Gobi's Valley, they will be accompanied of Bee Swarms that attack Banjo and Kazooie if they try to break the Beehive and get Honeycombs. Aside from Quarries, Beehives are the only enemies that do not directly attack Banjo and Kazooie.

Banjo-TooieEdit

In Banjo-Tooie, while Bee Swarms are absent, later worlds feature Cursed Beehives that disguise themselves as normal Beehives to attack the duo when they get near them but can be differentiated by their red eyes. Additionally, the normal Beehive's dialogue icon from the previous game is used in the Tower of Tragedy Quiz.

Grunty's RevengeEdit

Beehives return in Banjo-Kazooie: Grunty's Revenge, acting much like they did in Banjo-Kazooie.

Banjo-PilotEdit

In Banjo-Pilot, Beehives appear as obstacles in the Jolly Roger's Lagoon course. They also appear as the symbol of the Beehive Cup.

Nuts & BoltsEdit

In Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts, a Beehive appears as part of an exhibit in Banjoland.
