Trivia
Trivia
* In the opening scene of Banjo-Kazooie, Bottles speaks to Tooty as if they have known each other for some time, but she refers to him as "Mr. Mole," seemingly implying they are unfamiliar, though it could also simply be a formality. It is also strange, if Bottles had already known Tooty, that he shouldn't have to introduce himself to Banjo and Kazooie at the beginning of the game, apparently never having met them before despite having a molehill right outside their house.
* In the beta version of Banjo-Kazooie, Bottles had black-colored goggles rather than red.
* In the beta version of Banjo-Kazooie, Bottles had black-colored goggles rather than red.
* In Banjo-Tooie, Rare had planned to make a multiplayer mode called Bottles' Revenge in which the spirit of Bottles would become devilish and stalk Banjo and Kazooie, possessing nearby enemies and allowing a second player to control them. Although this was scrapped for unknown reasons, it remains in the game and can be played by use of a Gameshark or emulator. This is also apparent during the quiz near the end of the game, where the face icon for the "Devil Bottles" appears randomly as one of the character icons giving answers.
* One of the nicknames Bottles had in Banjo-Kazooie is the name of his older brother, Jamjars.
* One of the other nicknames that Bottles had is Specky, which is close to Speccy, his son's name.
* Ironically, given how he is treated in the main series, Bottles has the best on-paper vehicle stats in Banjo Pilot.
* In Nuts & Bolts, in Banjoland, the back of Bottles's clip board appears to be a picture of himself in his orange jacket.

Bottles is a shortsighted mole and one of the main allies of Banjo and Kazooie in the Banjo-Kazooie series. He is the brother of Jamjars and the descendant of Bozzeye. Bottles is known for his calm and casual personality, contrary to Jamjars' stereotypical drill sergeant behavior.

History

Banjo-Kazooie

Banjo and Kazooie meet Bottles in Banjo-Kazooie

In Banjo-Kazooie, Bottles is Tooty's closest friend and the only eyewitness to her kidnapping by the witch Gruntilda. He informs Banjo of her kidnapping, and urges him to go to Gruntilda's Lair to save Tooty.

Bottles teaches Banjo and Kazooie various moves throughout the game, provided they find his Molehills scattered throughout the different worlds. He also gives various instructions to the duo when they first enter Grunty's Lair. He is later seen eating corn during the barbecue held to celebrate Tooty's rescue, and comically falls off of his chair in shock when Tooty reminds them that Grunty must still be defeated. During the final battle with the witch, Bottles makes a Flight Pad appear to allow the duo to fly and continue the fight. He makes one last appearance in the ending, where he is seen enjoying himself on a beach alongside his friends, still eating corn.

Bottles also hosts a moving picture challenge, accessed by looking at his picture inside Banjo's house. For each level completed, Bottles gives the duo a cheat code to input in the Treasure Trove Cove's Sandcastle.

Bottles frequently bickers with Kazooie due to her nature, with her giving him several unflattering nicknames, and him often teasing or messing with her in return.

Bottles' initial tutorial in Spiral Mountain can be skipped, whereupon he will teach Banjo and Kazooie all of their basic moves immediately and tell them to meet him at the top of the mountain. Humurously, if Banjo continues talking to him again via the molehill right next to Banjo's house, Bottles will get progressively more annoyed until he threatens to delete the player's Game Pak, although Banjo will talk him out of doing it. However, if the player inputs a third forbidden cheat code in the Sandcastle, Bottles will give a genuine warning that the player's save file will be erased if they choose to activate the cheat, and offer them a chance to back out.

Banjo-Tooie

In the intro to Banjo-Tooie, Bottles and his friends are playing cards, being one of the victims of, as well as objecting to, Kazooie's constant cheating. When Mumbo Jumbo warns of Grunty's return, Bottles refuses to evacuate because he thinks Mumbo is lying. Unfortunately, Bottles is killed by the witch's spell that destroys Banjo's House. From this point on, he remains as a ghost near Banjo's house, waiting for the duo to resurrect him.

Bottles' house in Jinjo Village is introduced in this game, which Banjo and Kazooie have to pass through to reach the Wooded Hollow after talking with King Jingaling. The duo meet Bottles' wife Mrs. Bottles, his son Speccy, and his daughter Goggles, and can optionally talk to them, but they can't bring themselves to tell them about Bottles' murder.

Near the end of the game, Banjo and Kazooie use the leftover energy from the Big-O-Blaster to revive Bottles. He runs back to his house, where he is greeted by his angry wife and forced to eat his burnt dinner for being so late. He tries to explain himself by telling him how he was killed and resurrected, but she doesn't believe him. King Jingaling and a reformed Klungo then come into the house, where they all decide to house a party in honor of Banjo and Kazooie's victory. Humorously, Banjo and Kazooie themselves are denied entry to the party until Grunty is defeated. In the ending, the duo, Jamjars, Mumbo Jumbo and Humba Wumba go to Bottles' house to join the party, only to be greeted by a sleeping Bottles, who tells them the party ended early due to Klungo eating most of the food by himself; to everyone else's disappointment.

Although Bottles' brother, Jamjars, acts as the duo's move tutor in this game, Bottles himself gives Banjo and Kazooie optional tutorials on their moves from the first game if they examine his molehills. Before he is revived, his corpse and ghost can be visited near the remains of Banjo's house, where Bottles will lament his body is decomposing and urge Banjo to hurry up.

Bottles also heavily features into a scrapped gameplay mode called Bottles' Revenge. In it, Bottles took on a devilish appearance and allowed a second player could take control of certain enemies to antagonize player one. Although the mode became unused, a face icon for Bottles' devilish appearance can be seen as one of the icons that can appear on selectable answers in the Tower of Tragedy Quiz.

Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts

In Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts, it is said that his family has left him due to the trauma of his resurrection, so he has become a tour guide in Showdown Town. The resilient mole now serves as Showdown Town's tourist information officer. He claims that it is the most stressful thing he has dealt with... well, since his death and subsequent resurrection. He also appears in Nutty Acres, LOGBOX 720, Banjoland, and Jiggoseum.

 • In Nuts & Bolts, in Banjoland, the back of Bottles's clip board appears to be a picture of himself in his orange jacket.
