Spells are several gameplay-altering abilities Mumbo Jumbo and Humba Wumba can perform on Banjo and Kazooie. In Banjo-Kazooie, Mumbo will turn Banjo into a different form in exchange for 5 Mumbo Tokens. Every animal transformation is only available in a specific level, though the player can leave the level with the transformation still active. This feature is used for some puzzles and platforming challeges in Gruntilda's Lair. In Banjo-Tooie, the player can give Mumbo a Glowbo in every level to briefly play as him. He can perform a specific spell by interacting with a Mumbo Pad in the level.

Termite
Found in Spiral Mountain. Its main use is to walk on steep slopes, such as the ones in Ticker's Tower or the mountain in the world's entrance in Gruntilda's Lair, but it can also be used to walk on water without losing oxygen and fall off high places without receiving damage. While transformed, other Tickers do not attempt to harm Termite Banjo, although touching them still damage him. They also talk to him, wanting his backpack and shorts.

Found in Bubblegloop Swamp. It is used to reach and challenge Mr. Vile in his mini-game where one crocodile must eat more Yumblies and/or Grumblies than the other, walk on piranha water without recieving damage and enter small spaces such as the way to Cheato in the lava area of Gruntilda's Lair for the "BLUEEGGS" cheat code. Crocodile Banjo is also the only transformation in Banjo-Kazooie that can attack, biting enemies with B Button, and the only one in the entire series to be able to wear Turbo Trainers.

Found in Freezeezy Peak. As a walrus, Banjo can enter small spaces and move around in Freezeezy Peak's cold water without taking damage. Banjo is required to be a walrus during the first race with Boggy, who insists that the available sled is too small for Banjo and Kazooie to ride. If Walrus Banjo wins the race, he earns a Jiggy. Banjo can also take advantage of his walrus transformation as a disguise in order to talk to Wozza, who is otherwise terrified of Banjo. When Walrus Banjo talks to Wozza is happy to see another walrus, so he gives Walrus Banjo a Jiggy. After this, Wozza retires into his cave, and Walrus Banjo can follow him inside to collect an Empty Honeycomb.

Pumpkin
Found in Mad Monster Mansion. The transformation does not grant any unique ability or attack, but its small size can allow Banjo and Kazooie to enter previously-inaccessible small entrances. This transformation can carry over into the hub in Gruntilda's Lair, which has a shack that can only be entered from the pumpkin transformation. It is also required for squeezing through a hole behind Brentilda in the lava-filled room just before the Mad Monster Mansion hub.

Found only in the spring version of Click Clock Wood. While Bee Banjo is in midair, the player can make him fly by pressing A Button and hold B Button to make him fly faster. Bee Banjo automatically starts to fly when he hits water. Bee Banjo cannot take damage from the Snarebears and the thicket area surrounding Mumbo's Skull. Mumbo Jumbo only allows Banjo to become a bee in the spring because Mumbo has various excuses for the other seasons. If Bee Banjo enters another season or reaches certain zones, he transforms back to his usual form.

Bee Banjo returns in Banjo-Tooie, this time found in Cloud Cuckooland. The game introduces an attack where Bee Banjo can fire stingers at enemies. The player can press Z Button to make Bee Banjo fire stingers and aim with Camera up Button. Bee Banjo can fire at a much faster rate than when he is on land. Bee Banjo's stinger projectiles do not cause much damage, although it is the only way for him to defeat the Eyeballus Jiggium Plants. Banjo can only reach and enter Zubba Nest as a bee. While flying at a fast speed, Bee Banjo leaves behind an animation trail of blue sparks. Banjo cannot reach and enter the Zubba Nest unless he is under the bee transformation. Bee Banjo can earn a Jiggy in the nest by completing a mini-game.

  • Very rarely, he mistakenly turns Banjo into a washing machine, before going on to turn him into the correct transformation. Also he mentions he would turn Banjo into a T-Rex but changes his mind, saying that the transformation is meant for the next game.


Banjo-Tooie

Found in Isle o' Hags. It is used in front of the Train Station of Cliff Top to heal Scrat from his illness once he has been placed in Chuffy's cargo.

Summon
Found in Mayahem Temple. Performing the spell allows the Golden Goliath to be controlled for seventy-five seconds. During this time, he can be used to destroy boulders and Sput Sputs and open ways to the Jade Snake Grove, the Prison Compound and the Code Chamber. He is also required to acquire a Jiggy inside said grove, as he can safely get across quicksand.

Found in Glitter Gulch Mine. It is used for both lifting the Jiggy Boulder and placing it inside the Crushing Shed, destroying it and allowing Banjo and Kazooie to collect the Jiggy fragments, and put Chuffy back on its trails, letting the duo fight Old King Coal and use the train after defeating him.

Found in Witchyworld. It is used to power the Dodgem Dome, Star Spinner and Saucer of Peril, allowing Banjo and Kazooie to enter them.

Found in Jolly Roger's Lagoon. It is used to oxygenate the lagoon with sunlight, allowing Banjo and Kazooie to not lose oxygen when under it.

Found in Terrydactyland. to create a path in front of Mumbo's Skull, make Wumba's Wigwam bigger, allowing Humba Wumba to transform Banjo into Daddy T-Rex Banjo and make Scrit bigger so he can "be a proper dinosaur".

The spell can also be used to shrink things that were affected by the Enlarge spell, such as Wumba's Wigwam, which allows Banjo to turn back into the Baby T-Rex Banjo form.

Found in Grunty Industries. It is used throughout Grunty Industries to disable the second floor's Electromagnet so it doesn't push Washer Banjo and the fourth floor's Wall Crushers for Banjo and Kazooie can get across safely.

Found in Hailfire Peaks. It is used in the Icy Side of Hailfire Peaks to revive Alph, Betette and Sabreman after they have been frozen.

Rain Dance
Found in Cloud Cuckooland. It is used to both create a rainbow, allowing Banjo and Kazooie to reach the Pot 'O' Gold, and to grow the beanstalks, allowing them to reach Mr. Fit's sack race.
