As well as this, Kazooie can use Red Feathers to perform the [[Beak Bomb]] while flying and the [[Talon Torpedo]] while swimming underwater with [[Banjo]]. However, preforming these moves also costs red feathers (1 for Beak Bomb, 5 for Talon Torpedo). None of these moves can be used if Kazooie has no red feathers. However, the abundence of red feathers throughout both games means that running out of Feathers is never really an issue.

“Wheee... I'm a Red Feather! I help Kazooie fly, when she knows how!”
Red Feather, Banjo-Kazooie

Red Feathers are a recurring item in the Banjo-Kazooie series.

Location and uses[edit]

While flying, Kazooie can use Red Feathers to gain altitude. Each time a Red Feather is used, Kazooie flutters upward slightly. One is also used whenever Banjo and Kazooie perform a Beak Bomb.

Banjo-Kazooie[edit]

In Banjo-Kazooie, their first appearance, Red Feathers are pickups that cannot be used until Bottles teaches Flight to Kazooie. By default, Banjo and Kazooie can only carry up to 50 Red Feathers. "REDFEATHERS" is one of the three cheat codes that Cheato gives to Banjo and Kazooie. When the duo spell it out in the Sandcastle at Treasure Trove Cove, the maximum number of Red Feathers they can carry is doubled to 100. In Gruntilda's Lair, there is a Giant Red Feather in the room before Gruntilda is fought, and it replenishes Banjo and Kazooie's entire Red Feather supply.

There are certain Flight Pads from which Kazooie can perform Flight, even if she has not learned the move. Banjo and Kazooie are still required to have Red Feathers in order to take off from them.

Banjo-Tooie[edit]

In Banjo-Tooie, Banjo and Kazooie can carry up to 100 Red Feathers. The Talon Torpedo uses up five Red Feathers whenever it is used. Like the first game, Cheato provides another code, "Feathers," which doubles the maximum capacity of Red Feathers to 200 if entered at Mayahem Temple's Code Room.

Banjo-Pilot[edit]

In Banjo-Pilot, a Red Feather appears as the symbol of the Feather Cup.

Nuts & Bolts[edit]

In Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts, a Red Feather is seen in the box of Banjo and Kazooie's old moves which they receive at the end of the game.
