Kazooie, Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts

Turbo Trainers[1][2][3], formerly known as Running Shoes[4][5], are a recurring item in the Banjo-Kazooie series.

Location and uses

Turbo Trainers are shoes that, when worn by Kazooie, allow her to use the Turbo Talon Trot and run at high speeds for a limited amount of time.

Banjo-Kazooie

In Banjo-Kazooie, their first appearance, Bottles teaches Kazooie how to use the Turbo Talon Trot in Gobi's Valley. When worn, the Turbo Trainers last for about 10 seconds. They can be also be worn by Crocodile Banjo in Bubblegloop Swamp.

Banjo-Tooie

In Banjo-Tooie, the Turbo Trainers return and work much like they did in the previous game.

Banjo-Pilot

In Banjo-Pilot, Turbo Trainers appear as an item. When used, they give the racer a short speed boost.

Nuts & Bolts

In Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts, Kazooie mentions in the game's intro that she and Banjo would walk much faster if they had Turbo Trainers.

Other appearances

In Viva Piñata: Trouble in Paradise, piñatas can wear the "Breegull Turbo Trainers."

Banjo-Kazooie

  • Manual description: "Your mole friend will also brief you on these when the time comes, and as you'd expect, they grant Kazooie a few seconds of running speed well above her normal limits. You'll find that they're often used as part of a time-based puzzle..."

Banjo-Tooie

  • Manual description: "Run like the wind and walk on water! Yes, it's true—this fabulous footwear gives Kazooie a burst of incredible speed, even allowing her to run across the surface of water when at top speed."

Banjo-Pilot

  • Manual description: "Gives the player a temporary top speed increase."

Viva Piñata: Trouble in Paradise

  • Breegull Turbo Trainers description: "Though these are only replicas, an original pair was said to have been able to increase the speed of the common Breegull, even when carrying daft Honey Bears (a close relation to the Fizzlybear - not native to these shores)."
