King Jingaling is a recurring character in the Banjo-Kazooie series.

King Jingaling is the king of Jinjo Village and all things Jinjo. Making his first appearance in Banjo-Tooie, this large, yellow Jinjo king lives in his golden palace at the center of the village and spends most of his time sitting on his throne with his pet, Toots.Toots is a mysterious pink pet, who appears exactly like Rubee's pet companion from Gobi's Valley and could easily have just come into the kings possession. After the player has beaten Klungo and visited Jingaling, the king becomes one of Gruntilda's victims as she tries to suck up the life forces of characters in the Isle O' Hags to create a new body for herself, turning the King into a grey, evil zombie (Toots is reduced to a pile of ash, with only a pair of blinking eyes remaining) that has ties to bosses in the game. At the end of the game, he is rescued by Banjo and Kazooie when they infiltrate Gruntilda's hideout, Cauldron Keep. They use the B.O.B (Big-O'-Blaster) to revive everyone Grunty had sucked all the life away from, including Jingaling and Bottles. King Jingaling seems to act young seeing as he says "yo" often. He is one of the few characters Kazooie does not seem to insult - she even thinks his "strange pet thingy" is "cool". The duo often get his name wrong which annoyed him little by little and evident after you beat the game (Banjo mistakenly calls him "King Dingaling"). Although Jingaling is ruler it is strange to point out that the Jinjonator is more powerful and is considered a sort of ruler by the Oracles.

King Jingaling also wears blue slippers instead of purple.

“Singalong? Ringading? Dingaling. Come on, you guys, please remember my name — I'm the one and only King Jingaling!”
King Jingaling, Banjo-Tooie

King Jingaling is a recurring character in the Banjo-Kazooie series.

Physical traits[edit]

King Jingaling is a large, yellow Jinjo with green eyes. He wears a crown with a purple cap, an orange armor and purple slippers. As a zombie, King Jingaling is dull gray in color, and his eyes do not have pupils. In Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts, he wears a red, checkered robe, and each of its lighter red squares show a number (likely a reference to bingo). King Jingaling also wears blue slippers instead of purple.

Personality[edit]

King Jingaling is the carefree, sovereign ruler of the Jinjos. He is one of the few characters whom Kazooie does not insult, even complementing his pet, Toots. Banjo and Kazooie often get his name wrong, a fact which, despite annoying him, he only brings up at the end of the game.

As revealed by his zombified self, King Jingaling is shown to know about and even have relationships with many of Banjo-Tooie's bosses, most notably Lord Woo Fak Fak, whom he often goes fishing with. Gruntilda also calls him a traitor before blasting him with B.O.B. in the game, hinting at a possible former partnership between the two.

Biography[edit]

King Jingaling is a large, yellow Jinjo who rules the Jinjo Village and "all things Jinjo," debuting in Banjo-Tooie. He lives in his palace at the center of the village with his pet, Toots.

Grunty's Revenge[edit]

In Banjo-Kazooie: Grunty's Revenge, by the tower where the final battle is, there's a stone model of his head. However, King Jingaling's role before the events of Tooie is unknown.

Banjo-Tooie[edit]

King Jingaling first appeared in Banjo-Tooie, where he is found in his palace in Jinjo Village, accessible after defeating Klungo for the first time. He tells Banjo and Kazooie that Gruntilda and her sisters scared away all the Jinjos in the village with the Hag 1, and then gives the duo a Jiggy to start their adventure. Later, Gruntilda sucks up the life force of King Jingaling with the Big-O-Blaster to create a new body for herself, barely missing the Banjo and Kazooie when they left the throne room. Due to that, the king becomes a lifeless zombie and Toots a pile of ashes with blinking eyes. Standing in the Zombified Throne Room with the zombified King Jingaling will make him give hints on how to defeat bosses and other dialogue, but he can also attack the duo if he touches them.

In the ending, the king is rescued by Banjo and Kazooie when they enter Cauldron Keep. Using the Big-O-Blaster, they manage to revive both King Jingaling and Bottles, who also died at the beginning of the game. King Jingaling and Klungo later go to the party at Bottles' House to celebrate Gruntilda's defeat (and also scaring Klungo with a firecracker during it).

Banjo-Pilot[edit]

In Banjo-Pilot, King Jingaling is the host of the Jinjo GP, a "highly secret event" that only the "very best of racers" can participate. He chooses six random tracks that the racer must participate in and obtain as many points as possible. After completeing all races, the king will give the pilot the Jinjo GP ribbon.

Nuts & Bolts[edit]

King Jingaling, Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts

In Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts, King Jingaling can be found in Showdown Town, where he runs the Bingo Palace and hosts the Jinjo Bingo mini-game. To play it, Banjo and Kazooie must acquire Jinjo Tokens, which are obtainable by completing Jinjo challenges in the game's various worlds. Playing Jinjo Bingo will reward the duo with vehicle parts and Musical Notes. While Jinjo Bingo isn't the same as American Bingo, the concept is still similar, being that the duo uses Jinjo Tokens to fill the rows and columns to get prizes. When all tokens are collected, the entire board can be completed.
