Jolly Roger, a foppish frog dressed in bellbottom pants and a blue sailor uniform, is the eponymous mayor of the seaside town Jolly Roger's Lagoon and also owns the local tavern. In Banjo-Tooie Jolly has a very small role and is considered a very minor character. He is involved with one Jiggy.
Jolly Roger debuted in Banjo-Tooie, acting as the mayor of Jolly Roger's Lagoon and owner of a tavern in the seaside town. When first encountered, he is sad due to the fact that his partner, Merry Maggie Malpass, has recently gone missing. When she is rescued from the Big Fish, Jolly rewards Banjo and Kazooie with a Jiggy.

When the duo first meet him, he is atypically depressed due to the fact that his partner, Merry Maggie, whom he needs for the tavern's approaching happy hour, has recently disappeared. When the duo return with her, Jolly gladly rewards them with a Jiggy and sends them on their way.
He then allows the duo to rent the only vacant room of the inn for a discounted price of two Doubloons because a "naughty mole" had dug a hole in the corner of it (although it is possible to simply blow the door off with Kazooie instead of paying). If his offer is refused, Jolly will unhappily say that he hoped they'd deal with the "rodent rascal." However, the game can't be progressed without learning the ability taught here by Jamjars, so entering the room, regardless of the method, is necessary.

Jolly allows Banjo to rent the inn's only vacant room at a discounted two Doubloons, as a "naughty mole" has carved a hole in the corner in it (although Kazooie can simply blow up the door off instead of pay). If the duo refuse to pay, he unhappily states that he was hoping they would deal with the "rodent rascal" for him. However, learning the move that Jamjars teaches here (Sub-Aqua Egg Aiming) is required to further progress to through the level, so getting inside the room (regardless of which tactic is used) is a very important task.
While talking with Jolly Roger afterwards will only result in him thanking the duo for their help, interacting with the jukebox will result in him telling Banjo and Kazooie it's broken. Jolly "Dodger" appears in Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts along the seaside in various locations, like under Klungo's pier, behind a tree near the lighthouse and at the end of a dock near a hill, but can only be found at night. He offers to sell the duo Jiggies for various prices. The name of each of the Jiggies are different but they all put Jiggies in Jolly's personal Jig-o-Vend, which is located behind King Jingaling's Bingo Palace. After all of Jolly's "Black-Market Jiggys" have been bought, he can no longer be encountered in Showdown Town. His wardrobe has changed from his original sailor outfit to a more eclectic tattered pink coat and top hat. His skin has also lightened up and is no longer a dull olive green, but rather a bright, pale green. Most peculiar though is the fact that he now has a mouthful of gleaming teeth.
Jolly Roger reappears in Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts under the alias of "Jolly Dodger," selling Jiggies in various locations of Showdown Town such as under a bridge in the seaside area, behind a tree near the lighthouse and at a dock near a hill (only at night in this instance). Each Jiggy he sells has a different name, description and price, although these are the only differences. When bought, they will appear in Jolly Dodger's own Jig-o-Vend and need to be transported by Banjo and Kazooie themselves. After all of his Jiggies have been sold, he will no longer appear in the town. Sometimes, he open his briefcase, revealing many boxes of "Killer Instinct 3" (abbreviated as "KI3" in them).

Jolly also appears at the end of the game alongside the rest of the cast, congratulating Banjo and Kazooie for beating Gruntilda once again. He also surprises for the duo by fixing their house, but, much to their disliking, repaints it pink and white instead of the original blue and yellow.
In LOGBOX 720, Jolly Dodger plays the role of "The Celebrity Coding Sensation," a coding professional. His missions are mostly about defending the video game console from enemies. In Act 2, he asks for the duo to defend the computer chips from Gruntbots and in Act 6 he requests that they zap all of the console's Bugs.

In addition to his role in Showdown Town, Jolly appears as hosts of various challenges in a two of the Game Worlds created by L.O.G. in addition to the extra level L.O.G.'s Lost Challenges:
In the Terrarium of Terror, Jolly Dodger portrays "The Docile, Dithering Doormat Droid," a shy robot that's part of a space crew. His missions normally involve transporting objects and characters through the world. In Act 2, he requests that the duo to transport him and his crew to various areas. In Act 3, he needs Banjo and Kazooie to deliver tea and expensive biscuits to other characters.

Jolly Dodger also appears at the end of the game at Banjo's House in Spiral Mountain to congratulate Banjo and Kazooie for defeating Gruntilda. He also fixes the duo's house but, to their displeasure, repaints it pink and white instead.
In the first Game World he stars in, Jolly plays the role of "The Celebrity Coding Sensation", a spunky celebrity coding expert. He wears a black trench coat, sunglasses and a pink spiky-haired wig. In this world, Jolly regards himself highly and considers himself a true celebrity, and is thus deeply dismayed when there is something he cannot accomplish.

His missions predominantly revolve around defending the console from enemies and certain doom. In Act 2, he wants the duo to defend the console's computor chips from Gruntbots. Later in Act 6 he asks them to zap all of the bugs in the console.
In L.O.G.'s Lost Challenges, Jolly plays "The Deep Double Agent." His challenge is to stay inside a giant crown for a certain amount of time as part of a parade for King Jingaling.

“Psst! Over here, big fella! I used to be Jolly Roger, but now I'm Jolly Dodger. I'm a little bit dodgy these days, have a look at my finest black market Jiggies... Oooh, but keep it quiet!”
Jolly Dodger, Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts

Jolly Roger is an anthropomorphic frog and a recurring character in the Banjo-Kazooie series.

Biography[edit]

He was initially the mayor of Jolly Roger's Lagoon and owner of a harborside inn. In Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts, he eventually became a sketchy businessman, changing his name to "Jolly Dodger," likely to not be recognized by the Showdown Town Police.

Banjo Tooie[edit]

Jolly Roger in Banjo-Tooie's Character Parade

Jolly Roger debuted in Banjo-Tooie, acting as the mayor of Jolly Roger's Lagoon and owner of a tavern in the seaside town. When first encountered, he is sad due to the fact that his partner, Merry Maggie Malpass, has recently gone missing. When she is rescued from the Big Fish, Jolly rewards Banjo and Kazooie with a Jiggy.

While talking with Jolly Roger afterwards will only result in him thanking the duo for their help, interacting with the jukebox will result in him telling Banjo and Kazooie it's broken. To fix the machine, the two must collect all 25 Cheato Pages and return them to Cheato, who will then reward the duo with the cheat code JUKEBOX and input it in the Code Room. Jolly will dance in the counter when the Jukebox is playing.

Banjo-Pilot[edit]

In Banjo-Pilot, Jolly Roger is a playable character, being unlocked by completing Pumpkin Cup and giving 100 Cheato Pages to Cheato. He has low top speed but high handling and acceleration. Jolly Roger is the boss of Pumpkin Cup, being fought at the end in the match "Jolly Roger Joust." During the battle, when Jolly Roger is flying in front, he shoots behind cannonball that work like Single Blue Ice Eggs.

Nuts & Bolts[edit]

In Act 2, he asks for the duo to defend the computer chips from Gruntbots and in Act 6 he requests that they zap all of the console's Bugs.

In L.O.G.'s Lost Challenges, Jolly plays "The Deep Double Agent." His challenge is to stay inside a giant crown for a certain amount of time as part of a parade for King Jingaling.
