“Not true. Mumbo amateur. Wumba best. You bring Glowbo magic creatures here!”
Humba Wumba, Banjo-Tooie

Humba Wumba is a sha-woman and one of the main supporting characters in the Banjo-Kazooie series. She debuted in Banjo-Tooie, where she was decipted as Mumbo Jumbo's rival, taking up his role from the previous game as the character who transforms Banjo into various forms in exchange of specific collectibles.

History

Banjo-Kazooie

While not appearing in Banjo-Kazooie herself, Humba Wumba is mentioned by Gruntilda as a incorrect answer in one of the questions of Grunty's Furnace Fun.

Banjo-Tooie

Humba Wumba debuted in Banjo-Tooie, residing in her wigman. She can transform the bear and bird into many forms as long as they have a Glowbo, magical creatures found throughout the worlds. The Glowbo gets thrown into a pool of water in the middle of the wigman, where the duo then jumps in to transform themselves. Once they complete the spell, a Glowbo is no longer needed. If Mumbo Jumbo enters the wigman, she will tell him to get out.

Banjo-Pilot

In Banjo-Pilot, Humba Wumba is a playable character. She is unlocked by completing the Jiggy Cup and giving 100 Cheato Pages to Cheato. Humba Wumba has very low top speed but high acceleration and handling.

Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts

In Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts, Humba Wumba appears selling blueprints of pre-made vehicles and parts to Banjo in Showdown Town to get money for the "magic recession fund". She also appears in Nutty Acres, LOGBOX 720, Terrarium of Terror. She also appears in the end at Banjo's House to congratulate Banjo and Kazooie for winning the game and getting ownership of Spiral Mountain

In Nutty Acres, Humba Wumba takes the role of "Mumbo's Long-Suffering Wife". She is portrayed as the only hard-working person of the farm, hosting challenges in Acts 2, 5 and 6. In the first one, she asks Banjo to push the flaming rocks into the water so that the air stops getting polluted by the smoke coming from them. In the second challenge, she tells the duo about Mr. Patch's return and requests that they deflate him. Lastly, she asks the two to carry some coconuts to Mumbo so they can get approved to get shipped and then take them to the docks.

In LOGBOX 720, Humba Wumba acts as "The Gutsy Girl Gamer", a member of an all-girl tribe of gamers. She has challenges in Acts 1, 2, 4, 5 and 6, all involving races. In the first one, she asks Banjo and Kazooie to race some workers. In the second one, she races Banjo herself with a plane. In the fourth act, she needs Banjo to race in a course where all checkpoints are airborn due to a problem caused by Klungo. In the last act, she hosts another race with some of the other employees.

In the Terrarium of Terror, Humba Wumba portrays "The Mooning Conservationist", trying to save the place's flora from extinction. She has challenges in Acts 1, 2, 3 and 4. In the first one, she asks Banjo to take her "customized plant-friendly" vehicle to a specific area so Kazooie can observe the flower and help Humba plant out her next expedition. In the second Act, she asks the duo to push "ecologically unsound space junk" from out of the airlock. Later, she asks the two to defeat a few Gruntbots that invaded the terrarium.

In the DLC L.O.G.'s Lost Challenges, Humba Wumba acts as "The Feisty Femme Fatale" that once tried to win the Jiggosseum Games, but "missed out in the final qualifying round," so she then set up a "top secret beta stage gymkhana course on Test-O-Track" to host her own games. Her challenge is use the "L.O.G. Trusty Steed" to jump over hurdles while dodging the carboard pedestrians.

Trivia

  • In the Volume 134 of Nintendo Power, there is screenshot of an earlier version of Banjo-Tooie showing Humba Wumba wearing a red dress. A Mumbo Token symbol is found on the bottom right of the picture, implying that, at one point, Humba Wumba was going to accept Mumbo Tokens instead of Glowbos.
    • This picture can also be seen in-game in Grunty Industries at the Worker's Quarters, but without the Mumbo Token or dialogue icon.
  • If Humba's Wigwam is entered while playing as Mumbo Jumbo, Humba Wumba will keep telling him to leave.
    • In Glitter Gulch Mine, a Warp Pad can be found in her wigwam. If the pad is used while playing as Mumbo Jumbo, Jamjars will say that he isn't welcome there. Despite this, he can still enter through the main entrance.
