The Stonies are rock-like creatives native to Mayahem Temple, although one Stony can be found within the Colosseum on the lava side of Hailfire Peaks in Banjo-Tooie. Stonies look like small, relatively featureless rocks from a distance, but will spring to life when approached, growing arms, feet, eyes, and a crown- or headdress-like decoration on their head. Stonies have their own language and speak in phrases which sound uncannily like rude insults (such as "kik yu butta" and "kaz-o-iee dym bird"); using the Stony transformation, Banjo and Kazooie can speak to Stonies for tips and hints.
The Stonies are a recurring species in the Banjo-Kazooie series.

Three Stonies found in the training room of the Kickball Stadium are said to be veteran players of the sport, and the player is suggested to speak with them for hints. However, two of them say obvious things (such as telling them to try to win). The last one, however, provides a detailed overview of the game.

“To free the trapped one, a star must appear before the sun rises. Another star appears followed by two moons. Does that help?”
Stony, Banjo-Tooie

The Stonies are a recurring species in the Banjo-Kazooie series.

Characteristics[edit]

Stonies are small, rock-like creatures native to the Mayahem Temple, but a few are present in other locations too. They also have their own language, that only other Stonies can understand.

Banjo-Tooie[edit]

In Banjo-Tooie, Stonies are found in various places of Mayahem Temple. Interacting with them as Banjo and Kazooie will result in them simply insulting the duo in their own language (saying things such as "kik yu butta" and "kaz-o-iee dym bird"), but they will give hints or simply speak normally if they're transformed into Stony Banjo. They host the Mayan Kickball Tournament in this world, with the reward for winning the finals being a Jiggy.

In the fire side of Hailfire Peaks, Stonies are present in the Colosseum Kickball Tournament, with the reward for completing it also being a Jiggy.

Nuts & Bolts[edit]

In Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts, Mr. Fit challenges Banjo and Kazooie to "take on the Stony Kickball challenge" in Act 2 of Banjoland, where various soccer balls that come from a Targitzan statue must be knocked in a goal. Although the challenge has this name, no Stonies are actually present.
