Chuffy is a Train that was used in Banjo-Tooie and is operated by Old King Coal. It was originally found in Glitter Gulch Mine however, Chuffy had fallen off its tracks, so Mumbo Jumbo was needed to use the Mumbo Pad in front of the fallen train to put it back on the tracks. Afterward, Banjo and Kazooie entered the train and attempted to use it, but the train's owner, Old King Coal stated that they would have to fight him first to use his train. A boss battle inside the boiler ensues, and once the duo claim victory, they are free to use Chuffy as they like.

To use Chuffy, Banjo and Kazooie must open stations in each world by activating a Train Switch. Not all worlds have a train station though. Once activated, they need only to stand in front of the information sign by each station to have Old King Coal bring Chuffy to the station. Banjo and Kazooie use Chuffy quite a bit to transport different characters, obtain certain Jiggies, and travel quickly between worlds. Chuffy was used to sneak into Grunty Industries as the entrance was locked from the outside.

Hailfire Peaks is a unique world in that it has two train stations for use on the Lava Side and Icy Side, respectively. However, Chuffy is not able to travel to the Icy Side of Hailfire Peaks until his boiler is cooled, as the drastic change in temperature would damage Chuffy's engine. This requires Banjo and Kazooie to bring the train to the Lava Side station and find a way to cool Chuffy's boiler, which can be done by climbing up to a platform above the train and using the Beak Buster ability on the camel Gobi's hump to pour water into Chuffy's boiler.
Chuffy is first found in Glitter Gulch Mine, laying on the ground rather than on the rails. Mumbo Jumbo, with a Mumbo Pad, can, however, levitate the train back on his tracks. This allows Banjo and Kazooie to enter him to reach his boiler and fight Old King Coal. Once defeated, he will allow the duo to use Chuffy.

Chuffy can travel between Train Stations, provided that the duo opens them by pressing their respective Train Switches. They can also call Chuffy from Train Stations he is not in by interacting with the signpost in them. He can also be used to help obtaining various Jiggies, such as to take Scrut from Witchyworld to Terrydactyland, heal Scrat or access Grunty Industries. Chuffy also has a unique role in Hailfire Peaks, where two Train Stations are located, each in a different side of the world. Despite that, he isn't able to travel to the ice side until his boiler cools down. This can be achieved by using the Beak Buster move on Gobi's hump to pour water in said part of the train.

Old King Coal, Banjo-Tooie

Chuffy is a location in Banjo-Tooie.

Features and overview[edit]

Chuffy is a steam train owned by Old King Coal. It is used mainly as a way to transport Banjo and Kazooie quickly throughout the Isle o' Hags.
