Whiplashes are artificial tentacle-like enemies who appear in Banjo-Kazooie and Banjo-Kazooie: Grunty's Revenge. Most Whiplashes are pink, but some are green, depending on the area

History

Banjo-Kazooie

Banjo and Kazooie encounter some Whiplashes in Clanker's body

In Banjo-Kazooie, Whiplashes are parasitic-like tentacles with pinkish brown shafts and red bases found inside of Clanker's body during Clanker's Cavern. They sway back and forth slowly until Banjo and Kazooie come nearby, which is when they start to thrash violently while attempting to hit the duo. If Banjo gets hit, he loses a honeycomb of his health. Whiplashes cannot be defeated and must be avoided along the way.

In Click Clock Wood, Whiplashes have a more common variant, Whipcracks, which have the appearance of a tree limb. Although they are a different species, Whipcracks have the same behavior as Whiplashes, and they appear in more areas. Unlike their counterpart, Whiplashes cannot be defeated by Wonderwing because they are always out of reach on land.

Banjo-Kazooie: Grunty's Revenge

In Banjo-Kazooie: Grunty's Revenge, Whiplashes are the most common enemy, and they appear in every world, both on land and underwater. Whiplashes are a basic enemy and can be defeated instantly from any attack. They sway slowly, even if Banjo approaches one. Sometimes, a Whiplash is hiding under a pile of sticks, and Banjo can reveal it by using Pack Whack on the sticks.

Just before the first battle against Klungo, he is shown to be creating Whiplashes and Gruntweeds for Gruntilda. According to the Jinjo Oracle, Gruntweeds are a hybrid of a Whiplash and a Gruntling. Whiplashes have a stronger and larger variant, Stinglashes, which are found in later areas.

Green Whiplashes appear in the oily waters of Spiller's Harbor and in the icy sea of the Freezing Furnace. Aside from color, there is no difference between them and the common pink Whiplashes.

Banjo-Pilot

In Banjo-Pilot, a green Whiplash makes a cameo appearance during the Grand Prix awards ceremony.
