- “Captain Blubber's pride and joy, the Salty Hippo first appeared in Banjo-Kazooie's Treasure Trove Cove. It has never been seen in good working order, possibly due to its useless hippo captain.”
- —Infopost, Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts
The Salty Hippo is a recurring object in the Banjo-Kazooie series.
Location and uses[edit]
The Salty Hippo is a pirate ship belonging to Captain Blubber.
Banjo-Kazooie[edit]
In Banjo-Kazooie, the Salty Hippo was accidentally shipwrecked by Captain Blubber in Treasure Trove Cove. In the world, Banjo and Kazooie first encounter Captain Blubber on the Salty Hippo, and he asks for their help in recovering his treasure in the sunken hold of the Salty Hippo. There is a molehill near the top of the mast where Bottles teaches Kazooie how to fly, and a Flight Pad is next to the molehill. A green Jinjo is at the very top of the mast.
One of the questions in Grunty's Furnace Fun asks for the name of the Salty Hippo. The incorrect choices are "The Sweaty Rhino" and "The Wobbly Whale."
Banjo-Tooie[edit]
In Banjo-Tooie, The Salty Hippo is mentioned in the Tower of Tragedy Quiz. It is an incorrect answer for a question that asks the name of a sunken ship in Jolly Roger's Lagoon, with the correct answer being "It has no name."
Nuts & Bolts[edit]
In Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts, the Salty Hippo appears in Banjoland, half-sunken in the lake and only kept together by a net.
