'''Snippet''' is an enemy, found mainly at [[Treasure Trove Cove]] but one can also be found out the front of the entrance to the world in [[Gruntilda's Lair]] in [[Banjo-Kazooie]]. This oversized [[wikipedia:Crab|crab]], like most enemies, will attack [[Banjo]] when he comes into range, running at him sideways and snapping his claws menacingly. Defeating a Snippet is somewhat more complicated than with most other enemies: weaker attacks such as rolling or using eggs merely knocks the creature onto its back, from which it can right itself up if it is not hit with a subsequent attack. If the Snippet can be defeated while standing with a stronger attack such as the [[Beak Buster]] or the [[Wonderwing]], it yields two [[Honeycomb]]s rather than just one, making these creatures ample sources of easy energy provided the right strategy is used.

Although it is ever mentioned in the enemy reel, a tougher, darker-colored Snippet can be found exclusively in the [[Sandcaste]] in Treasure Trove Cove. This mean old crab is much stronger than a regular Snippet, taking a whole five eggs just to knock it onto its back; even the Beak Buster is not enough to take it down in one hit. It guards the [[Jiggy]] behind the metal gate until Banjo solves the puzzle on the Sandcastle's tiled floor.

Banjo-Kazooie[edit]

In Banjo-Kazooie, their first appearance, Snippets are mostly found at Treasure Trove Cove, but also appear in Clanker's Cavern and Gruntilda's Lair. Like most enemies, Snippets try to attack Banjo when he is nearby. They move by sidestepping toward Banjo while snapping their claws. If Banjo and Kazooie either perform a Forward Roll at one or shoot an egg at it, the Snippet flips onto its back. Snippet can then be defeated from another hit, causing its body to break apart as a honeycomb is released. If the duo are not quick enough at attacking a Snippet while it is flipped over, it gets up after a few seconds. Snippets can also be defeated from either a Beak Buster or Wonderwing attack, both of which result in two honeycombs being released instead of one.

There is a Black Snippet in the Sandcastle of Treasure Trove Cove. In Clanker's Cavern, there is a small cave where mutated Snippets, known as Mutie-Snippets, are found.

In Banjo-Kazooie: Grunty's Revenge, Snippets are found in the Magic Angler, Frozen Fish and Fishy Fingers mini-games. They appear as obstacles, not scoring any points when fished, unlike the red fish which need to be collected in order to win the mini-games' respective Jiggies.
