Rippers are tombstone enemies very similar in appearance to regular tombstones, which they often disguise themselves as. Rippers appear in varying sizes and have a pair of bulbous eyes, clawed hands, and stone-shaped feet. Their name is derived from the acronym "R.I.P.," which is short for "rest in peace."

'''Ripper''' is an enemy, native to [[Mad Monster Mansion]], but a few can also be found at the entrance to the world at [[Gruntilda's Lair]] in ''[[Banjo-Kazooie]]''. He is a large, gray gravestone with the writing "''R.I.P''" written on his front (which stands for "Rest In Peace"). He is quite strong but if attacked from the back with the [[Rat-a-tat Rap]] ability, he can be defeated quickly. He camouflages himself among the other normal gravestones while sitting patiently for [[Banjo]] and [[Kazooie]] to pass by before popping up to attack.
In ''Banjo-Kazooie'', Rippers are found in [[Mad Monster Mansion]] and, after visiting the world at least once, its hub area in [[Gruntilda's Lair]]. Rippers disguise themselves as regular tombstones, so when [[Banjo]] and [[Kazooie]] approach a Ripper, it pops out, revealing itself, and starts to chase the duo. A way to distinguish Rippers from ordinary tombstones is that the Rippers fade away in the draw distance unlike the regular tombstones, which are part of the level geometry. The Rippers and ordinary tombstones in Gruntilda's Lair are much larger than those of Mad Monster Mansion.
 
Because they are made of stone, Rippers are durable, so it takes several hits for Banjo and Kazooie to defeat them. Kazooie can instantly defeat a Ripper if she uses a [[Rat-a-tat Rap]] move on it from behind.

In ''[[Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts]]'', simplistic, rudimentary replicas of Rippers appear as decorations in [[Banjoland]]. Several Rippers are on display in a makeshift graveyard in front of the Mad Monster Mansion exhibit. They are bolted down to the ground, although [[Kazooie]] can control their arms by using [[Mumbo's Wrench]] to spin them around.


In Mad Monster Mansion, the Rippers are somewhat smaller than the ones outside the world's entrance.

Rippers are an enemy in Banjo-Kazooie.

Characteristics[edit]

Rippers are tombstone enemies very similar in appearance to regular tombstones, which they often disguise themselves as. Rippers appear in varying sizes and have a pair of bulbous eyes, clawed hands, and stone-shaped feet. Their name is derived from the acronym "R.I.P.," which is short for "rest in peace."

Banjo-Kazooie[edit]

In Banjo-Kazooie, Rippers are found in Mad Monster Mansion and, after visiting the world at least once, its hub area in Gruntilda's Lair. Rippers disguise themselves as regular tombstones, so when Banjo and Kazooie approach a Ripper, it pops out, revealing itself, and starts to chase the duo. A way to distinguish Rippers from ordinary tombstones is that the Rippers fade away in the draw distance unlike the regular tombstones, which are part of the level geometry. The Rippers and ordinary tombstones in Gruntilda's Lair are much larger than those of Mad Monster Mansion.

Because they are made of stone, Rippers are durable, so it takes several hits for Banjo and Kazooie to defeat them. Kazooie can instantly defeat a Ripper if she uses a Rat-a-tat Rap move on it from behind.

Nuts & Bolts[edit]

In Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts, simplistic, rudimentary replicas of Rippers appear as decorations in Banjoland. Several Rippers are on display in a makeshift graveyard in front of the Mad Monster Mansion exhibit. They are bolted down to the ground, although Kazooie can control their arms by using Mumbo's Wrench to spin them around.
