Toots is a small pink creature resembling an anteater, which while incapable of speaking, makes high-pitched cooing noises when happy and is kept as a pet by some of the other characters. In Banjo-Kazooie, Toots sits beside Rubee in Gobi's Valley and appears to sing along as Rubee plays his pipe.
In Banjo-Tooie, Toots sits beside King Jingaling on his throne. When Jingaling's life is sucked away by B.O.B., Toots is left as either a burnt mark on the throne with only his eyes remaining or is hiding in the couch from a zombified Jingaling. When Banjo and Kazooie restore King Jingaling's life force, Toots is also restored and rejoins his master's side on the throne.
