Nipper is a giant hermit crab and the boss of Treasure Trove Cove in Banjo-Kazooie.
Game appearances
Banjo-Kazooie
When Banjo and Kazooie first approach Nipper, he claims to own the beach and tells them that they cannot find anything without his help. Kazooie makes a smug remark, which angers Nipper and starts a battle between him and the duo.
In the battle, Nipper tries to attack Banjo and Kazooie by pinching them. Nipper's arms have a limited reach, and the duo can avoid taking damage by standing a few steps back. Nipper briefly pauses after snapping four times, leaving his face open to a Rat-a-tat Rap attack. Nipper snaps his claws more quickly after each hit. After Nipper takes three hits, he is defeated, and he shrinks back into his shell, which the duo can enter.
Nipper's shell is mostly hollow except for six Musical Notes, six Blue Eggs, and a Jiggy. Two Snippets are found inside of the shell. The ceiling is covered with holes, which allows for sunlight to shine into the shell. Oddly, the holes are not visible from the shell's exterior.
Nipper can be fought again if Banjo and Kazooie leave and re-enter Treasure Trove Cove.
