- “Motzand plays his organ with ease, but can you follow him on the keys?”
- —Motzand, Banjo-Kazooie
Motzand is a large, ghost hand who plays a large pipe organ in The Haunted Church of Mad Monster Mansion in Banjo-Kazooie. Unlike other ghosts, Motzand is friendly and does not damage Banjo and Kazooie. Like Gruntilda, Motzand only speaks in rhymes. Motzand has four fingers, and only plays using his index finger. His name is a portmanteau of a famous composer, Mozart, and "hand".
In Banjo-Kazooie, when Banjo and Kazooie climb onto the organ's music stand, Motzand challenges them to copy the notes of two tunes that he plays on the pipe organ. Banjo and Kazooie can hit the keys by using Beak Buster on each of them. At first, Motzand plays a short tune consisting of a few notes. After the duo copy the first tune, Motzand plays a longer tune that includes more notes. Once Banjo and Kazooie have copied both tunes, Motzand congratulates them and rewards them with a Jiggy. Motzand then floats upward and fades away.
Trivia
- The score on the music stand displays a short organ-arranged section of The Haunted Church theme.
