Banjo diving underwater in Grunty's Revenge

Diving is an ability used by Banjo and Kazooie to dive underwater. It is used in Banjo-Kazooie, Banjo-Tooie, and Grunty's Revenge.

In Banjo-Kazooie: Grunty's Revenge, Banjo learns how to dive underwater from Bozzeye for 25 Musical Notes. Banjo can only dive underwater in areas where the water is bubbling. There are only three bubbling water spots in the game. When Banjo is underwater, he has a time limit represented by air bubbles as his oxygen capacity. In Banjo-Kazooie and Banjo-Tooie you lose an air bubble every ten seconds, however you lose them twice as fast if you are swimming in the oily water in Rusty Bucket Bay and in the freezing water during Winter in Click Clock Wood.

In the first two games, if Banjo runs out of air bubbles, he will drown. However, in Grunty's Revenge, he will just swim back to the surface once he runs out of air bubbles.

In Banjo-Tooie, Banjo can swim underwater on his own, whereas Kazooie will attempt to dive if one presses B on the water's surface, but is unsuccessful due to her plumage giving her buoyancy. However, Kazooie can temporarily swim underwater on her own by means of the Talon Torpedo.
