A Shrapnel is an explosive enemy found in various locations throughout Treasure Trove Cove and Gruntilda's Lair in Banjo-Kazooie. This mine-shaped baddie will growl and chase the bear and bird along the water's surface when it sees them. Since merely touching this floating aquatic mine will cause it to explode, costing Banjo and Kazooie two Honeycombs, it is usually best to merely avoid it. However, if and when the opportunity presents itself, Shrapnel can be safely dispatched from a distance with three Blue Eggs.
In Banjo-Tooie, colored Shrapnel can be be found deep underwater in Jolly Roger's Lagoon during the Grunty's Submarine Challenge mini-game. Shooting a red Shrapnel will get you 1 point, greens will earn you 2 points, and blues 3 points. Touching one as Submarine Banjo will still cause it to explode in your face, so try to steer clear and take them out from a distance with torpedoes.
In Banjo-Kazooie: Grunty's Revenge, Shrapnel reappears in Breegull Beach and Spiller's Harbor. Like in the original game, these Shrapnel explode on impact.
In Banjo-Pilot, they are featured in the boss battle with Gruntilda, as when you are chasing her she will launch Shrapnel at you.
