Not only does this allow the duo to move much faster, but the Talon Trot is needed to tackle slopes too steep for Banjo to walk up on his own (although some slopes are too steep even for the Talon Trot). When alone, Kazooie retains the Talon Trot's slope-climbing ability. In ''Banjo-Kazooie'', the two need to learn this to proceed to the next area in the tower after Mumbo's Mountain.

The Talon Trot is an ability learned from Bottles on Mumbo's Mountain in Banjo-Kazooie and which carries over to Banjo-Tooie. It is one of the earliest moves learned and also one of the most useful. Hold Template:Z and press Template:C-left, and Kazooie will stick her legs out of the backpack and carry Banjo around as long as Template:Z is held. Not only does this allow the duo to move much faster, but the Talon Trot is needed to tackle slopes too steep for Banjo to walk up on his own (although some slopes are too steep even for the Talon Trot). In Banjo-Kazooie, this move must be learned in order to proceed to the next area in Gruntilda's Lair after Mumbo's Mountain. In Banjo-Tooie, Kazooie retains the Talon Trot's slope-climbing ability when separated from Banjo.

In Banjo-Kazooie: Grunty's Revenge, the Talon Trot is learned from Bozzeye on Breegull Beach, and has the same functionality as the move from the console games. To execute it, hold Template:Lgameboy and press Template:Rgameboy. Unlike its function in the previous incarnations, however, no buttons need to be held while running with this move.
