Scrut is the first of the Styracosaurus children encountered in Banjo-Tooie. One day, she ran away to Witchyworld, only to be captured by Jippo Jims, who threw her into a cage in the Cave of Horrors, where she was labeled "Mighty Evil Dinosaur". When Banjo and Kazooie meet her, they initially believe this to be true, but Scrut points out that if she was really "mighty and evil" she would have already broken out of the cage. To save her, Banjo and Kazooie must break open her cage using a Grenade Egg, activate the train station in Witchyworld, and use Chuffy the train to take Scrut to Terrydactyland where she belongs. Upon returning home, her mother Scrotty punishes her by making her clean up the cave for the rest of the month.

Scrotty gives Banjo and Kazooie a Jiggy for restoring her family back to normal. Scrut's brother, Scrit, suffers from dwarfism and Mumbo must use his magic to help him grow. Their brother, Scrat, is sick and has to be brought to the Cliff Top so Mumbo can heal him.

Scrut can be distinguished from the rest of her family by her pink skin color.
