Merry Maggie Malpass, likely a toad, is Jolly Roger's partner at his inn. When Banjo and Kazooie first meet Jolly, he tells them that Maggie has gone missing and asks them to find her so that she can help him during happy hour. Banjo and Kazooie must track down the Big Fish in the lagoon and knock out its teeth with eggs. Once its teeth are gone, they can swim inside, where they find Maggie. She reveals that she was riding one of Captain Blubber's waverunners when the Big Fish knocked her over and swallowed her. When Banjo and Kazooie tell her that she can now leave the fish, Maggie flees back to the inn. To earn a Jiggy for the rescue, Banjo and Kazooie must return to the inn and collect their prize from Jolly. Maggie can then be found in the inn behind the bar, brushing her hair.

Trivia

  • Maggie was named Malpass after Steve Malpass, a Rareware member who later went on to voice the character Fox McCloud in Super Smash Bros. Melee and Star Fox Adventures.
  • Maggie has an oddly low voice for a female. Due to this and her lack of breasts, there is speculation that she may actually be a man in drag. These facts lead some to the idea that she is a he and that both Maggie and Jolly are homosexual. However, there is no solid proof that Maggie is male-- and there is no evidence that Maggie and Jolly are even a couple. She seems to be his business partner in the inn, and neither she nor Jolly give evidence that they are in a romantic relationship.
  • Her voice actress Tara Strong did Maggie's oddly low voices because Tara is known for doing low voices, too.
