Canary Mary

Canary Mary, as her name suggests, is an elderly canary. She is first encountered in Banjo-Tooie in Glitter Gulch Mine, where she is released by Banjo and Kazooie. Afterwards, the player can race against her in a mine cart game to earn a Jiggy, and then another time for a Cheato Page. She reappears in Cloud Cuckooland, where she can once again be raced, but this time in a flying clockwork mouse rather than a mine kart. Winning once will earn the duo another Jiggy, and winning twice will earn another Cheato Page.
Her races are considered very difficult and frustrating, and are also mentioned at the Glitter Gulch Mine exhibit in Banjoland.
History
Canary Mary states she was used by miners to check the mines for poisonous gas. If she died, it was deemed unsafe. After discovering that she was slowly dying from the gas inside one of the caves, her masters abandoned her, and left her there to die.
Summary
After being freed by Banjo and Kazooie, Canary Mary's wings need a stretch. She fixes the mine cart and races the pair, losing and giving them a Jiggy in addition to a Cheato Page on their second victory. She flies off, claiming to fly among the clouds...
She appears again to be raced twice on a clockwork mouse in Cloud Cuckooland. The first race against her is much harder and fans have complained of the difficulty for a long time. Some think it's impossible without using the start button to rest or even using a Turbo Controller. However the second race if the player goes at the right speed (which is in fact fairly slow) Canary Mary will fly slower then you allowing you to easily beat her.
After her last defeat she leaves for her dinner, a worm sandwich.
