The EMP, or Electromagnetic Pulse, is a spell that Mumbo uses in Grunty Industries to disable certain machines. However, auto-fixing programs in place make the spell only temporary, meaning Mumbo has to quickly get back to his skull and send out Banjo and Kazooie to get past the disabled obstacle.

The two EMPs are used for:

  • Floor 2's Electromanget - otherwise, the Washing Machine will get pulled away from the large switch it must press to access Weldar. The Electromagnet stays off when the switch is pressed.
  • Floor 4's Wall Crushers - these cannot be passed through any other means due to both a high speed and a conveyor belt. When the EMP spell is used, the conveyor belt reverses direction. The crushers are returned to normal once the spell ends, and can be turned off permanently with a switch at the other side.

Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts

In Nuts and Bolts, the EMP is a weapon won from Jinjo Bingo. It temporarily disables all weapons and gadgets around you, including your own.
