"Game Over" is a message used in video games when the player has run out of extra lives. However, nonstandard Game Overs are sometimes used to punish specific mistakes. The Game Over screen differs from game to game, but the text is usually set against a blank screen, with sad or mocking background music playing. In the Banjo-Kazooie series, the Game Over screen is present in Banjo-Kazooie, Banjo-Tooie, and Banjo-Kazooie: Grunty's Revenge. In Banjo-Tooie, because the lives system was removed, the only way to get a Game Over is by exiting the game.
