Caterpillars and their functions[edit]
The Summer contains 8 caterpillars, and you need to use 5 of them, so there are 3 more than you need. The Autumn contains 13 caterpillars, and you need to use 10 of them, so there are again 3 more than you need. In order to make caterpillars in Summer appear, you have to break the egg in Spring. In order to make caterpillars in Autumn appear, you have to feed Eyrie in Summer. However, there are two caterpillars in Autumn, that appear if you break the egg in Spring (and you don't have to feed Eyrie in Summer). Those are: 1) Inside Nubnut's house. 2) Inside the Hive. So the first trigger makes 10 caterpillars appear and the second trigger makes 11 caterpillars appear. I don't know why those two caterpillars in Autumn follow a different behaviour.
