Weldar is a half-blind welding torch found in the depths ofGrunty Industries in Banjo-Tooie. He is regarded by many to be one of the more difficult bosses in the game, and simply reaching him is a long, ardous process. Weldar was left mortally wounded after battling the duo in Banjo Tooie, but his immobile, dismembered still lives in Grunty Industries and parts of his ruined body live on, being turned into vehicle part in Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts.

“Well, I'm out now, so I might as well go to work on you!”
Weldar, Banjo-Tooie

Physical Characteristics

Weldar is a large personified welding torch. He has a large, metalic, cylindrical base with 6 square plates on it that seem to keep his body from overheating. He has a large yellow apparatus surrounding him and two guages on his base. His hose and nozzle have snake-like qualities, including sharp teeth. His neck-like hose appears to be bendable and strong enough to drag himself across the floor just before the boss battle begins. He also has vision problems, a trait shared with most species of snakes. Weldar's eye' are visibly damaged, with one of his pupils being slightly smaller than his other. Whenever Weldar Opens his mouth he expels a sleek, bright blue flame.

The vehicle part Weldar's Breath in Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts, being made from bits of Weldar, has the same basic concept. He still has a long snake-like head and neck, although his body appears to be a propane tank rather than an actual wending torch.

Games

Banjo-Tooie

He is in the basement of the repair depot, which cannot be reached until many tasks have been accomplished. He thinks that Banjo is a bear, though he can't quite tell due to his poor eyesight and states that bears are not to be allowed into the building. Banjo hesitantly replies that he isn't. Weldar then says that he forgot to wear his glasses, but since he went through the trouble of dragging himself out here (literally, he comes in using his head to drag his body into the room), that he might as well fight the duo anyway. First off, Weldar just shoots out fire balls which Banjo and Kazooie can easily dodge. Weldar then tries to suck up Banjo and Kazooie, which is their chance to shoot Fire Eggs or Grenade Eggs into his mouth. Weldar then states to refrain from doing that as he is full of flammable gas. Next Weldar sends out nuts and bolts at the pair, which are easily dispatched. When he is hit again after more sucking, he jumps into the air and drops down to get the bear and bird. After a missed drop, he then chases after them before jumping back to the middle of the room and using the vacuum one more.

Weldar then turns on a emergency switch which turns on the cables on the floor. Electricity surges through them, making it harder to avoid attacks. He then does all of his attacks in the same order again. After he is defeated he explodes and his head flies and hits a high voltage box, stopping the fan in the A/C Plant and the connected rolling poles. After he is defeated he says that his eyesight is the least of his worries, recommend for a repairman and in a lot of pain. Weldar gives the duo a Shock Spring Pad for an exit back to the Industries. They can now get Weldar's Jiggy, located behind the giant fan.

In Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts, Weldar's head has been rebuilt and appears as a vehicle part called Weldar's Breath. Mumbo Jumbo explains that he found Weldar "...in skip and made him into flamethrower."
