Toots is a small, pink anteater-like creature which, while incapable of speaking, makes high-pitched cooing noises when happy and is kept as a pet by some of the series' other characters. In Banjo-Kazooie, Toots sits beside Rubee the Snake Charmer and appears to sing along as Rubee plays his pipe.
Template:Spoiler In Banjo-Tooie, Toots sits beside King Jingaling on his throne. When Jingaling's life is sucked away by B.O.B., Toots is left as either burnt mark on the throne with only his eyes remaining or hiding in the couch from a zombified Jingaling. When the Banjo and Kazooie restore Jingaling's life force, Toots is also restored and joins his master's side on the throne. Template:Endspoiler
There is some debate over whether Rubee's Toots is the same one as Jingaling's, or if they are different individuals of the same species, as evidenced by a slight size difference.
