Toots is a small, pink anteater-like creature which, while incapable of speaking, makes high-pitched cooing noises when happy and is kept as a pet by some of the series' other characters. In Banjo-Kazooie, Toots sits beside Rubee the Snake Charmer and appears to sing along as Rubee plays his pipe.

There is some debate over whether Rubee's Toots is the same one as Jingaling's, or if they are different individuals of the same species, as evidenced by a slight size difference.
