Toots is a small, pink anteater-like creature which, while incapable of speaking, makes high-pitched cooing noises when happy and is kept as a pet by some of the series' other characters. In Banjo-Kazooie, Toots sits beside Rubee the Snake Charmer and appears to sing along as Rubee plays his pipe.
Template:Spoiler In Banjo-Tooie, Toots sits beside King Jingaling on his throne. When Jingaling's life is sucked away by B.O.B., Toots hides from the zombie Jinjo in a hole in the cushion with only its eyes visible. When the Banjo and Kazooie restore Jingaling's life force, Toots rejoins his master's side on the throne. Template:Endspoiler
There is some debate over whether Rubee's Toots is the same one as Jingaling's, or if they are different individuals of the same species, as evidenced by a slight size difference.
