Giant's Lair is the beta version of Gruntilda's Lair. It was going to be the hub world in Project Dream. As Project Dream changed into Banjo-Kazooie, so did the hub world. Many people get Giant's Lair confused with Mount Fire Eyes, another beta level from Banjo-Kazooie. Furthermore, hackers discovered an unused theme in the game that is now known as 'Advent,' and many people also mistake it as the theme of the beta level Fungus Forest, when in reality it was intended to be the theme for the Giant's Lair.
One possible theory could be that the level was an early idea for Mad Monster Mansion, as the size of furniture within the Mansion is giant sized, as well as the doors looking quite similar between the 2 stages, as well as Grunty first being a giant in the idea for Project Dream, and that was (as the name suggests) her lair, and she now is a witch whose Mansion is theoretically Mad Monster Mansion.
