Swellbelly is a large blowfish enemy which inhabits the depths of Jolly Roger's Lagoon. It reacts to threats by puffing itself up to an enormous size, piercing anything that gets too close with the sharp spines that cover its body.
Swellbellies are an enemy in Banjo-Tooie.

Swellbellies can be easily defeated by using the Talon Torpedo or by firing Grenade Eggs at them once Banjo and Kazooie learn how to Egg Aim underwater.
Characteristics
Swellbellies are large, pufferfish-like enemies appearing throughout Jolly Roger's Lagoon's Atlantis. When Banjo and Kazooie get near them, Swellbellies inflate themselves and damaging the duo if they touch their spines. Swellbellies can be defeated by using moves such as the Talon Torpedo, Submarine Banjo's sonar pings or the Sub-Aqua Egg Aiming to fire Grenade Eggs.

Trivia
*The Puftup enemies from Donkey Kong 64, another game developed by Rare Ltd., were recycled into the Swellbellies from Banjo-Tooie. They act almost exactly the same as Puftups from Donkey Kong 64: differences with these have the red coloring, among others being the eye highlights differently positioned, as well as green eyes and mouths instead of red, and is fought slightly differently, swelling larger but not exploding.
