Giant's Lair is the beta version of Gruntilda's Lair. It was going to be the hub world in Project Dream. As Project Dream changed into Banjo-Kazooie, so did the hub world. Many people get Giant's Lair confused with Mount Fire Eyes, another beta level from Banjo-Kazooie. Many people also confuse the theme of the Giant's Lair, 'Advent,' with the theme of Fungus Forest.
