More of an obstacle than an enemy, '''Whiplashes''' in ''[[Banjo-Kazooie]]'' are found exclusively inside [[Clanker|Clanker's]] belly in [[Clanker's Cavern]]. These brownish pink tentacles will sway calmly back and forth until [[Banjo]] and [[Kazooie]] swim by, reacting to their presence by thrashing about madly trying to whip the duo. Whiplashes are immune to [[Blue Eggs]] and, since they are always found either underwater or otherwise out of reach while on foot, they cannot be taken on with the [[Wonderwing]] like the similar [[Whipcrack]]s.

Whiplashes are far more common in ''[[Banjo-Kazooie: Grunty's Revenge]]'', and fortunately, can be killed easily with just about any attack. They are found in every world, both on land and in water, in the open and hiding under piles of sticks. Sickly-looking green Whipcracks can also be seen in the oily waters of [[Spiller's Harbor]] and in the icy sea of the [[Freezing Furnace]], but there does not appear to be any difference between these and normal Whiplashes besides the coloration.

In ''[[Banjo-Kazooie]]'', their first appearance, Whiplashes are pink tendrils with red bases found inside of [[Clanker]]'s body during [[Clanker's Cavern]]. They sway back and forth gently until [[Banjo]] and [[Kazooie]] approach, causing them to thrash about violently. If Banjo gets hit, he loses a [[honeycomb]] of his health. Whiplashes cannot be defeated and must be avoided. It is not known if they are a natural part of Clanker's digestive system, or some kind of foreign parasite.


In [[Mad Monster Mansion]] and [[Click Clock Wood]], Whiplashes have a more common variant, [[Whipcrack]]s, which have the appearance of a vine. Although they are a different species, Whipcracks have the same behavior as Whiplashes, and they appear in more areas. Unlike their counterpart, Whiplashes cannot be defeated by any means; [[Blue Egg]]s and [[Beak Bomb]] will pass right through them, and they are always either underwater or too high up, so they cannot be reached with [[Wonderwing]].

Whiplashes are a basic enemy and can be defeated instantly from any attack. They sway slowly, even if Banjo approaches one. Sometimes, a Whiplash is hiding under a pile of sticks, and Banjo can reveal it by using [[Pack Whack]] on the sticks.
