In ''Banjo-Kazooie'', Whiplashes are parasitic-like tentacles found inside of [[Clanker]]'s body during [[Clanker's Cavern]]. They sway back and forth slowly until [[Banjo]] and [[Kazooie]] come nearby, which is when they start to thrash violently while attempting to hit the duo. If Banjo gets hit, he loses a [[honeycomb]] of his health. Whiplashes cannot be defeated and must be avoided along the way.

In [[Click Clock Wood]], Whiplashes have a more common variant, [[Whipcrack]]s, which have the appearance of a tree limb. Although they are a different species, Whipcracks have the same behavior as Whiplashes, and they appear in more areas. Unlike their counterpart, Whiplashes cannot be defeated by [[Wonderwing]] because they are always out of reach on land.
