The Twinklies first appeared in [[Freezeezy Peak]], where they are found inside a large blue present located near the giant Christmas tree which can be opened by using the [[Beak Buster]]. The Twinklies enlist [[Banjo]] and [[Kazooie|Kazooie's]] help in [[Protect the Twinklies|protecting them]] from being eaten by [[Twinkly Muncher]]s, as they make their way towards the tree to light it up. Once it is lit, one urges Banjo to "be a star," meaning to [[Flight|fly]] through the ring-like star on top of the tree to reveal a [[Jiggy]].

In ''[[Banjo-Tooie]]'', The Twinklies are not characters so much as objects to be collected in various mini-games, such as the [[Dodgems Challenge]] and the [[Twinkly Packing Challenge]]. In these games, there are three different colored Twinklies worth different amounts of points, corresponding to colors of various other objects in different minigames:

*Red Twinklies are worth one point
*Green Twinklies are worth two points
*Blue Twinklies are worth three points.
