Large footprints in the ground will provide cover, but you'll need to be quick to move from print to print without being squished; the Talon Trot is usually fast enough, although the Wonderwing will offer protection if you want to be cautious, but Banjo alone does not have the necessary speed to make it across without being stepped on, so the Snooze Pack ability is required to recover energy in between stomps. (Banjo and Kazooie must cross separately in order to grab all the goodies at the other side.)

Judging by the shape of Stomponadon's foot, he would appear to be based on members of the Theropoda suborder of dinosaurs, such as a T-rex or something similar, although the exact species is impossible to identify. Oddly enough, the footprints left in the Stomping Plains are those of a sauropod, such as a diplodicus.
