The Twinklies are Christmas tree lights that appear in both Banjo-Kazooie and Banjo-Tooie. The Twinklies first appeared in Freezeezy Peak, where they are found inside a large blue present located near the giant Christmas tree which can be opened by using the Beak Buster. The Twinklies enlist Banjo and Kazooie's help in protecting them from being eaten by Twinkly Munchers, as they make their way towards the tree to light it up. Once it is lit, one urges Banjo to "be a star," meaning to fly through the ring-like star on top of the tree to reveal a Jiggy.
In Banjo-Tooie, The Twinklies are not characters so much as objects to be collected in various mini-games, such as the Dodgems Challenge and the Twinkly Packing Challenge. In these games, there are three different colored Twinklies worth different amounts of points, corresponding to colors of various other objects in different minigames:
- Red Twinklies are worth one point
- Green Twinklies are worth two points
- Blue Twinklies are worth three points.
