Note Doors are found throughout Gruntilda's Lair in Banjo-Kazooie. Gruntilda cast a powerful musical spell on 12 passages in an attempt to slow Banjo and Kazooie's progress through her lair. Each door requires a specific amount of Musical Notes which are collected from the worlds to remove the magic spell.

The 12 Note Doors
Note Doors are doors with a picture of a Musical Note on them, and they appear throughout Gruntilda's Lair. There are 12 in total, and they were put in place by Gruntilda as an attempt to slow Banjo and Kazooie from progressing through her lair. Each Note Door can only be opened from collecting Musical Notes in the levels, and they each have a set minimum total of Musical Notes. By having enough Musical Notes, Banjo and Kazooie can approach a corresponding Note Door, which permanently vanishes and clears the entrance for the duo.
#The 1st Note Door requires 50 Notes to open. It leads from the entrance room of Gruntilda's Lair with the giant Grunty Portrait to the room with the Grunty Round Floor Tile.
#The 2nd Note Door requires 180 Notes to open. It leads from the Pipe Drainage Room to the Huge Grunty Statue room.
#The 3rd Note Door requires 260 Notes to open. It leads from the Huge Grunty Statue room to the room with the Giant Stone Urn.
