Artwork of Banjo crouching

Crouching,[1][2] alternatively known as Ducking,[3][4] is a basic ability that Banjo can use in both Banjo-Kazooie and Banjo-Tooie. It has little purpose other than how it puts Banjo into a position that allows for him and Kazooie to perform more advanced moves, such as Flap Flip or Beak Barge. In both games, Banjo can crouch if the player presses Z Button, and they can rotate the Control Stick to change the direction that Banjo faces.

Profiles

  • Banjo-Kazooie Nintendo Player's Guide (page 8): "Though not an effective defensive maneuver, ducking by hitting the Z Button will help Banjo get into position for more advanced moves."
  • Banjo-Tooie Nintendo Player's Guide (page 6): "Ducking will usually be just a prelude to other moves, such as having Kazooie shoot an egg or perform the Flap Flip jump. Press Z to try it out."
