“We're the Eggs! Kazooie can learn to use us as ammo!”
Blue Egg, Banjo-Kazooie

Blue Eggs, also known as Eggs, are a recurring item in the Banjo-Kazooie series.

Location and uses[edit]

Blue Eggs are the weakest, most basic type of egg that can be fired by Kazooie.

Banjo-Kazooie[edit]

Blue Eggs first appear in Banjo-Kazooie, as the only projectiles that Kazooie can fire, and are known as simply eggs in the game. Banjo and Kazooie gain the ability to use them after talking to Bottles in Mumbo's Mountain. Bottles then gives them 50 eggs to use. Like Musical Notes, the Gold and the Red Feathers, Blue Eggs are scattered around the world map for Banjo and Kazooie to collect. The duo can carry up to 100 Blue Eggs, or 200 after meeting Cheato then entering the cheat code "BLUE EGGS" from the Sand Castle.

Blue Eggs are primarily used for solving puzzles, usually leading directly to a Jiggy. Kazooie can fire Blue Eggs either out front or from her backside. She can only fire them in a straight line, and cannot home them on obstacles or enemies. Blue Eggs have the capability of attacking weaker enemies, such as Grublins.

The Blue Eggs are essential throughout the game, namely for filling a Blue Egg Toll or attacking Gruntilda in the final battle. Blue Eggs are a key item for obtaining some Jiggys, including by feeding Juju and Croctus, both who find Blue Eggs tasty, or even patching Leaky up with two Blue Eggs.

A larger variant called the Giant Blue Egg appears in one of the final rooms in Gruntilda's Lair, right before the final battle against Gruntilda. The Giant Blue Egg replenishes the duo's Blue Egg supply entirely.

Banjo-Tooie[edit]

A nest of Blue Eggs from Banjo-Tooie

Blue Eggs reappear in Banjo-Tooie, which has introduced more types of Eggs including Fire Eggs and Grenade Eggs. Blue Eggs, along with other eggs, are only obtainable in egg caches. Although their unique purpose was diminished, Blue Eggs have the highest maximum capacity compared to other eggs. A Blue Egg is one of the items that is required for activating the Pot o' Gold in Cloud Cuckooland.

The Egg Aim ability allows Kazooie to shoot eggs in first-person mode, including Blue Eggs. Later on, Kazooie also learns two more abilities of firing Eggs (including Blue Eggs) while airborne and while swimming underwater.

Grunty's Revenge[edit]

Blue Eggs also appear in Banjo-Kazooie: Grunty's Revenge, where they have a very similar purpose as they did in Banjo-Tooie.

Nuts & Bolts[edit]

Blue Eggs make another appearance in Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts. Even though Banjo and Kazooie's moveset were revoked from their previous adventures, the Egg Gun and Egg Turret parts allow them to fire Blue Eggs from their vehicle.

In the ending, the Lord of Games returns the duo's moveset in a cardboard box. Blue Eggs appear inside the box, along with Red Feathers, Gold Feathers and a Flight Pad.
